[Note: Perfumed lotions can be irritating to a fresh tattoo, so be sure to use something that is additive free, like Lubriderm]
Repeat steps 2 - 4 at least twice a day. If the tattoo feels hot and itchy, don't scratch it. A good washing and lotion should relieve the discomfort.
As the tattoo heals, it will shed a few layers of dead skin and scabbing. these layers can make the tattoo look a little cloudy or shiny at first, but that will clear up after the healing process is complete.
Fresh tattoos are vulnerable to injury and infection until completely healed. Avoid scratching, sunburns, and other minor injuries.
DO NOT:
NO swimming, saunas, steam baths, hot tubs, etc. Remember that warm wet environments are more prone to harboring harmful bacteria.
Remember: How good the tattoo looks depends greatly on how well it heals, and that is dependent on how well you take care of it.
GENERAL CLEANING: Wash 3 times a day for the first 3 days, 2 times a day for the next 3 days, the once a day until completely healed. Before cleaning, remove dry discharge from the jewelry and off surrounding skin. Lather well with soap, then push the jewelry back and forth through the piercing. RINSE THOROUGHLY. Make sure ALL traces of the soap are removed from inside the piercing. When cleaning, always check your jewelry to make sure that the bead or ball is tight, especially if you have a barbell.
BODY CARE: anti-bacterial Soft Soap should be used during the cleaning process. RINSE THOROUGHLY. Neosporin should be used for 7 days. After 7 days, discontinue use of the Neosporin. Clean area and turn jewelry with soap and warm water ONLY.
FACIAL CARE: Anti-bacterial Soft Soap should be used during the cleaning process. (Hibiclens is extremely poisonous). Area should be cleaned 2 to 3 times a day. Neosporin should be used for 7 days. After 7 days, discontinue sue of the Neosporin. clean area and turn jewelry with soap and warm water ONLY.
ORAL CARE: The mouth is an extremely septic region of the body and should be rinsed regularly with Listerine. Refrain from smoking, spicy foods, and alcohol until the piercing heals.
REMEMBER: You now have a direct line to your blood stream. Please refrain from oral or sexual contact until the area heals. For genital piercing's, use condoms to protect the piercing from bacteria and viruses and above all:

DO NOT OVER MEDICATE: Over cleaning can slow down the healing process and can cause the piercing to remain red and sore. If in doubt, stick to soap and water. Stress and sleep deprivation can slow down the healing process. Hot tubs and or swimming pools with chlorinated water should be avoided until the piercing heals.
